We just extended our lease and need a Retail Lead!

Indigenous Chic is seeking a motivated and community-minded Retail Lead / Brand Ambassador to help grow our presence at River Park Square in downtown Spokane.

This role is ideal for someone who believes Native fashion deserves visibility in prominent spaces and wants to contribute to building a long-term retail vision connected to our future restaurant and gathering space expansion.

We are looking for someone who:

- Has lived experience within Native American communities
- Is confident selling various priced-ticket items with professionalism and warmth
- Brings positive, proactive energy to the sales floor
- Understands the importance of storytelling in retail
- Can create consistent social media content to support visibility and sales
- Takes initiative during slower traffic periods
- Communicates clearly and values community connection
Responsibilities include:
- Providing welcoming, knowledgeable customer service
- Confidently presenting and selling artisan-made and designer pieces
- Sharing artist stories and helping customers understand the value of Native-made fashion
- Creating regular social media posts to highlight products, artists, and in-store moments
- Helping maintain attractive displays and merchandising
- Supporting small in-store events such as artist demonstrations or styling sessions

Position details

Part-time: approximately 8–20 hours per week while training

Primary shifts: Fridays and Saturdays

Opportunity to grow into a leadership role overseeing retail operations as the business expands

Compensation

$20–$23 per hour depending on experience, with opportunity for performance-based growth.

Retail experience is required. Alignment with the mission and enthusiasm for helping grow Indigenous Chic are most important.

✨ Meet the Artist at Indigenous Chic ✨

Join us Saturday, March 14 from 2–4 PM for a special Meet the Artist event with Charlene Teters (Spokane).

Charlene Teters is an internationally recognized artist, educator, and activist whose work explores Native identity, representation, and social justice. Her paintings and installations have been exhibited across the United States and internationally. She is widely known for her courageous advocacy challenging harmful Native mascots and imagery, helping spark a national movement for respectful representation of Native people.

Come meet Charlene, hear about her work, and experience the stories behind her art, and watch as she gives a live paint demo.
