In the upcoming August Primary Election, voters will decide whether to approve the West Plains Aquifer Protection Area (APA) and associated fees, emphasizing its significant role in providing resources for the City of Airway Heights, the City of Cheney, the City of Medical Lake, WA, and Spokane County's efforts to monitor the aquifers that provide drinking water in the West Plains and support important water quality initiatives.

Why approve this measure?
The proposed West Plains APA establishes programs to monitor and protect from further contamination the aquifers of the West Plains.

Beginning today, part of Seven Mile Road in north Spokane County is closed and continuing through August 31, 2026, for a water and sewer line installation project.

The closure of North Seven Mile Road is between N. Nine Mile Road and Seigle Court.

During construction, local access will be maintained, and a detour is in place between N. Old Trails Road and N. Inland Road.
