2nd Annual Haitian Flag Day Heritage Celebration:
Sunday, May 17th
3:00-6:00 PM
at First Presbyterian Church
🌍This Earth Day, Maji Rising honors the deep connection between land, water, and community care. Environmental justice is racial justice. Climate resilience is community resilience.
From the water we protect to the spaces we create for healing, joy, and belonging—our work is rooted in honoring the Earth and each other.
Today and every day, we commit to:
✨ Protecting our natural resources
✨ Uplifting Black and Brown voices in environmental spaces
✨ Creating sustainable, community-centered futures
Because when we care for the Earth, we care for us all.

So glad to see the $1 million we advocated for was included in the supplemental operating budget — now signed into law — to continue supporting birth doulas and the statewide hub and referral system. 🤱🏾💜 Thank you for your strong leadership, Doulas For All.
As we recognize , this investment is especially meaningful. Doulas play a critical role in improving outcomes and supporting families, particularly in communities that have been historically underserved. I’ve been proud to advocate for this work and to help strengthen a perinatal workforce rooted in care, connection, and reproductive justice.
This is about healthier moms, healthier babies, and making sure every family has the support they deserve.

📢Join us today at 1:30 pm as Governor Ferguson signs Senate Bill 6005.
Watch live here: https://tvw.org/schedule/
After 3 years of listening, organizing, and lifting community voices - from block parties to the state legislature - this moment is here.
This bill will allow unused land in East Central, Spokane to become Beloved Kijiji: a permanent village of care with affordable housing, an Indigenous healing garden, and an on-site healthcare clinic - created to serve our community.
đź’«This is what happens when community leads.
Maji Rising and Take Up The Cause are honored to help bring this vision to life. We are deeply grateful to our elected officials who helped get us to this day, including Senator Marcus Riccelli and Representative Natasha Hill, along with Senate Bill 5853, Senator Andy Billig, Spokane City Council President, Betsy Wilkerson, the late Sandy Williams, and many others.
There are still many steps ahead to bring this vision fully to life - and we'll keep you posted on how you can help.
đź’žHealing takes a village.
✊🏾Together, we rise.

Today we honor the sacred work of doulas—the quiet, powerful presence that holds life at its threshold. 🤍
On this World Doula Day, we celebrate those who stand beside birthing people with steady hands, open hearts, and deep ancestral knowing. Doulas are not just support—they are witnesses, protectors, advocates, and keepers of dignity in some of life’s most vulnerable and transformative moments.
They remind us that birth is not just clinical—it is cultural, spiritual, and deeply human.
In a world where too many birthing people, especially Black and Brown families, face inequities in care, doulas are a lifeline. They bring compassion where there is fear, voice where there is silence, and care that centers the whole person.
Today, we uplift doulas who:
✨ Hold space without judgment
✨ Advocate fiercely
✨ Honor tradition and intuition
✨ Help bring new life into the world with love and respect
May we continue to invest in, uplift, and learn from doulas—and ensure that every birth is supported, safe, and held in care.
Maji Rising met with St. Luke’s to travel through Liberty Park to ensure our Village of Care provides healthcare for everyone!

Today we celebrate the power, courage, and brilliance of women everywhere.
🫶🏿We come together to celebrate our past — the generations of women whose strength, wisdom, and determination paved the way.
🫶🏾We honor our legacy — the stories, sacrifices, and victories that continue to inspire us.
🫶🏽And together, we shape the future — lifting one another, breaking barriers, and building a world where every woman and girl can thrive.
Here’s to the women who came before us, the women leading today, and the girls who will change tomorrow.
Happy International Women’s Day. 💜✨
