The CLUTCH Spokane
01/17/2024
Have you ever wondered what it feels like to lead in a partner dance? What makes a good leader as a dancer?
In an upcoming workshop at the The CLUTCH Spokane, taught by Mindi Sheer Dance Ecology and Janine Hernandez
Leading taps into a different part of your brain, and it also engages your 'shape-flow support' (basically your inner 'attitude') differently than following. Use of space is different in leading versus following, as is spatial awareness.
In this workshop, a first of a series, we delve into these topics, rarely discussed, and more. More importantly, you will have the chance to lead (if you typically are a follower role) and will learn some foundations for leading! Some dance experience is useful, even just basics.
This workshop will focus on Salsa or Bachata, but we will use examples from other dances. We will teach you a simple and technical approach, in a low stress environment geared towards women. Men are very welcome - all are. The focus though, is leadership (and leading) for women.
Learning to lead can help you get the most out of dance opportunities. .
