Ron Pyle continued the series on Exodus last Sunday with a look at God’s call to Moses, Moses’ objections and God’s response to Moses’ resistance.

“The ways God responds to Moses reveals how God shapes us,” Ron said.

Moses resists because he is insecure. God says, “I will be with you.”

Moses says, I’m not special. But God uses the available and the ordinary to do the extraordinary.

Moses says, I’m not eloquent. God says, I will be your teacher.

Moses says, Send someone else. God adapts by including Aaron. God works his plans through imperfect humans.

Last Sunday, Asher continued his series on the Sermon on the Mount, focused on Matthew 7:1-5.

Asher emphasized the important balance between grace and truth. Brutal honesty (without grace) isn’t really honest, he said, and lavish grace without honesty isn’t really grace.

He reminded us of the log and the speck. “Relentlessly deal with your own sin. One of the best gifts we can give the world is our own self-awareness.”
