I’ve spent enough time around philanthropy to know funding decisions are rarely about who cares the most. They’re about who is prepared.

Over the years, I’ve worked with organizations that had incredible missions but no real funding structure. That kind of fundraising is exhausting and it keeps you in survival mode.

So next month, I’m hosting a Grant Power Lab. It’s a four-hour working session where I sit down and actually help attendees build their funding foundation. Participants will walk out with a master grant narrative, a reusable proposal framework, a clear prospecting strategy & list, and a 90-day submission plan. Not just notes and inspiration but real, ready-to-use documents and techniques you can apply immediately.

And because I love a good party, we’re ending the day with an Afterglow at Aya House. The first ten Early Bird registrants can attend for free with the code MFCF. After that, you can still get 50 percent off the Afterglow with the code DRISCOLL.

If you’re planning to apply for funding in 2026, this is the season to get organized. The leaders who secure funding consistently are the ones who prepare long before the deadlines show up. If that’s you, I’d love to see you or your team at next month.

It’s been one week since the Opportunity Resource Fund’s 40th Anniversary Gala, and despite having managed multiple events since, I am still processing everything that night represented.

When the lights dimmed, the music faded, and the last guests went home, I finally exhaled. What many saw as a seamless, elegant celebration was the result of months of strategy, sacrifice, coordination, and faith. Every detail—from the program flow to the table settings—was a reflection of intention, not coincidence.

For simplicity I often refer to myself as “the planner.” But I know that what I do extends far beyond logistics and decor. I build experiences that hold meaning. I translate missions into moments that people can feel. I create opportunities for underrepresented entrepreneurs to showcase their talents on the main stage.

For this one event, I personally handled: project management and meeting facilitation, experiential event and run-of-show design, graphic design and print, video editing, favors, fundraising templates and strategy, newsletter marketing, event setup, social media account formation, press releases, production scheduling and stagehand coordination, volunteer recruitment, onboarding and management, registration, event supplies, event insurance, procurement, financial reporting and vendor payments, technology configurations, pre and post event guest communications, vendor communications, sponsor communications, award design, talent acquisition, and crisis management. It was the off camera prayers that kept me motivated and centered on the mission throughout the madness.

My event production services require creativity and structure but more importantly a deep understanding of how to move both people and purpose. But I didn’t do it alone. More than twenty extraordinary vendors brought their craftsmanship to life, and a small but mighty team of volunteers showed up at Michigan Central Station with open hearts and willing hands. Together, we created something that was not just beautiful, but deeply meaningful.

This gala was the culmination of four major events I produced this year for this client—each one telling a story of legacy, resilience, and hope. Standing in that ballroom, I felt both exhaustion and gratitude, knowing that every late night, every pivot, and every prayer had been worth it.

This season reminded me that true leadership is not only about making things happen, but about shaping how they happen and who grows in the process. It’s about the quiet confidence that comes from mastery, and the courage to know when it’s time to pour that mastery into something new. I could not have asked for a better way to transition into my next chapter. Stay tuned!
