The clinical term for a miscarriage is 'spontaneous abortion'. This terminology is used across the board for any loss of a pregnancy, for any reason. I recently had the pleasure of speaking with a group of young men between the ages of 25 and 30, and all of them viewed 'abortion' in a somewhat negative light, while a 'miscarriage' was seen as an unfortunate event beyond the woman's control. Miscarriage garnered pity and compassion, while abortion was viewed as a decision associated with carelessness and/or irresponsibility.
A miscarriage always requires some degree of medical intervention in order to assure that the baby has actually passed away, and that there is no risk of sepsis to the mother. Certain political factions feel that it's perfectly fine to allow women to slowly and painfully die, physically and emotionally, while their traumatized bodies try to make sense of what is happening. Only when toxins build to the point of potential multi organ failure, creating a new diagnosis, can intervention begin, and by that time it's often too late.
The verbiage in these anti-female agendas don't use the term miscarriage because it garners a sympathetic response, whereas abortion may or may not.
