Legend says that Empress Leizu discovered silk-making when a cocoon fell into her tea, unraveling to reveal a strong and soft thread. Silk production flourished in China, leading to the famous Silk Road, where tea became a popular trade item.

Centuries later, tea and silk intertwined once again giving rise to one of the theories; when tea merchant Thomas Sullivan put loose tea into silk pouches instead of the more expensive tins- the birth of the tea bag✨
