Up at 5:30 AM to attend the largest chef conference in the United States.

Before I came to this conference, I told the Lord that I wasn't going to walk into another room feeling like I didn't belong. I told Him that I was going to be who He says I am—not who others have said I wasn't.

Today, I attended the American Culinary Federation Convention, and I am truly humbled. The American Culinary Federation is the largest professional organization for chefs and cooks in the United States, and being here has reminded me of the honor, excellence, and professionalism that come with this career.

As a culinary educator and the founder of Soulful Kitchen Culinary School, I believe it's important to continually sharpen your skills and place yourself in environments that challenge you to grow.

This is more than a conference for me. It's a reminder that purpose is greater than people's opinions, and that perseverance, faith, and obedience will always have the final say.
