Bill Simpkins, at the wheel of his 1935 American La France fire engine, on Friday morning gets help pushing the fully-restored engine out of his System Studies building on East Cliff Drive in Live Oak. Simpkins acquired the truck in 1981 and is sending it back for safe keeping to the Cos Cob Volunteer Fire Co. in Connecticut where it operated until 1963. (Dan Coyro — Santa Cruz Sentinel)
