A horse man and his companion…

A horse man and his companion. You see the trolley pulled by horses on postcards and reels, but you don’t get to see much of the life at the ranch. Our horses have been our siblings, our children, our coworkers, our friends. We could write a whole book of all our adventures. Meeting celebrities. Having to make do with broken equipment. Scrambling to move a whole farm in 30 days. Praying for miracles. Betting everything for the chance of a better life. Much of our way of life has been shaped one way or another around horses. Many opportunities have come our way through them. We are so grateful. This is the moment when Sal spends some time to treat Claire. He offers some grain with some horse cookies in her bowl. He puts it on the ground. She lowers her head towards the bowl, comes back up, and nips Sal’s hand. What could she be saying? “Thank you”. “I like it better from your hand”. “Have some”. Maybe even “I love you”. As tough as you see Sal, he sheds a tear. Then puts his shades back on.

We honor our best girl! Our OJ. Clara has been with us since we started this adventure back in 2007. Today we honor her hard work and all of her help naming our barn after her! We dreamed of a barn for all of our horses and a forever home. Here it is. We love you Claire!!

We were honored to take the Danish National Girls Choir for a ride and some ice cream!! We are humbled that they took time from their tour with the Danish String Quartet to spend some time with us!! They even surprised us with a song at the end of their visit!!
