š This is what a control system engineerās fish tank looks like.
Yep, thatās Justin's ordinary aquarium made SMART using Innius and an Allen-Bradley Micro 850 PLC system. It has a temperature sensor, water level sensor, and relay outputs to control the heater, air bubbler, and lights. The lights are on a schedule and the control system maintains the tank temperature within one degree of the setpoint.
Collecting the sensor values and other PLC data is simpleāthe system is connected via Wi-Fi and using standard technologies such as MQTT, data can be displayed in a dashboard and on a mobile app. Configuring this using the innius platform was straightforward through a web page interface.
One might even say the setup went quite swimmingly! š Nice work, Justin! We canāt wait to see how this thing scales! š (Ok no more fish puns.)
Is your machine monitoring platform simple enough that youād set it up at home? Why notāļø
