This is fascinating data from economist Paul Krugman. 30% of the CPI is rent, and rent inflation was running near 8% nationally - meaning that about 2.6 of the CPI was all rent inflation. However, recent data from multiple sources show that rent inflation has slowed. CPI is measured off lease agreements, which are typical a year long, so it will take some time to filter through. But, the fever appears to be breaking. That's great news if you're looking for lower inflation and lower rates.
