Congratulations and well deserved
For Homecoming Week, the MSU Alumni Foundation will announce honorees of its annual Homecoming Awards and Blue and Gold Awards.
Today we recognize Flint Rasmussen as a recipient of the Blue and Gold Awards.
Born in Havre, Flint Rasmussen was raised in Choteau, Montana. In high school he excelled in music and drama and was a stand-out athlete, capturing all-state honors in track and football.
He enrolled at Western Montana College where he remained involved in music and served as an announcer for athletics. During summers he performed as a rodeo clown across Montana. Flint earned a bachelor’s in secondary education in 1990, with majors in math and history.
Flint taught high school math and history and coached football and track for two years before resigning to pursue his passion of performing.
Flint became one of the most recognizable personalities in the western industry, winning the ProRodeo Clown of the Year award eight consecutive years and working as the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo Barrelman eight consecutive times. He also worked as Arena Entertainer at the Professional Bull Riders World Finals 26 times.
Flint also took his talents outside of the arena as host of his “Outside the Barrel” western talk show and the “According To Flint” podcast. He now works in the corporate headquarters of the Professional Bull Riders in Fort Worth, Texas, as senior vice president of fan engagement and head of competition.
Flint’s parents, Stan and Tootie, are proud Bobcat alumni. And Flint is a proud parent of Shelby and Paige, Bobcat Rodeo National Champions and MSU graduates. A lifetime die-hard Bobcat fan, Flint has been honored to don the blue and gold and talk MSU athletics in venues across the country.
