Well, we had two of our own — Firefighters Nick Manaseri and Gavin Burch — step up to the hot dog eating contest today. They came up a little short on the leaderboard, but you’ve gotta give it to them for jumping in and representing Slidell Fire with big smiles and even bigger hearts! That's what the Fourth is all about - fun, community, and making memories.

Earlier in the day, the golf cart parade absolutely crushed it, showcasing everything that makes a Fourth of July special — especially as we celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday. America 250 is looking strong in Slidell!

Stay safe, enjoy the rest of the fireworks, and remember: light them on a flat surface, soak ‘em in water when you’re done, and never put leftover fireworks in a trash can next to your house or vehicle. 🚒
