The sky cleared up this morning and gave our work crew a beautiful day to be volunteering!! We had a big turnout and Keep Slidell Beautiful is so thankful! This is a fantastic picture sent in by one of our parent volunteers, a big thank you for that! 😁

Photos from NHS JROTC Panther Battalion's post 03/09/2026

This past Saturday our Cadets participated in the new Adopt a Fence program! Our ROTC Cadets started this program in hopes that other school groups would join in and pick a fence to decorate and upkeep for the school! What a fantastic idea and it turned out AMAZING! So proud of our Program!

This is a FORMAL Dance! The dress code is STRICT. So, what do they wear??

Female Cadets:
They are to wear LONG formal dress. This is not like a Homecoming Dance...NO short dresses are allowed. The dress must properly cover the chest (no plunging neck lines). Open backs are allowed but can not go past the lower back. Dress shoes (flats or heels), no tennis shoes, flip flops, etc.

Male Cadets:
They wear their ROTC Uniforms with a few adjustments. If they have been issued a Class A uniform (with the jacket) they wear that. If not, they wear their Class B uniform (without the jacket). All males wear a white, collard, button down dress shirt (not their ROTC uniform shirt) with a BLACK bowtie (not their ROTC tie), and their black uniform socks and dress shoes. I would recommend either hoping on Amazon or going to the store now to get the bowtie. A lot of proms are happening at the same time and black bowties become really hard to find.

If your Cadet is bringing a female date/friend to the Ball, they follow the SAME dress code as our female Cadets. No exceptions.

If your Cadet is bringing a male date/friend to the Ball, he wears dress slacks, dress shirt, tie (any kind), and dress shoes. A Suit jacket is not required.

If a Cadet or Guest is not in compliance with the dress code, they will NOT be able to attend the Dance.

Please! Please! Please! Follow the Dress Code! We don't want to turn Cadets away at the door😒
I have had girls (or their moms) text me pictures of their dresses if they weren't sure it was okay to wear...you are more than welcome to do that!

Let's talk Chaperones!!

There is a place on the permission slip that asks if you would like to chaperone for the dance. If it's something you want to do, go ahead and mark that box. But please understand by marking that box, it does not mean that you WILL chaperone, only that you are WILLING to be one.

We have a very limited amount of chaperone spots, and we give first choice to parents of cadets that are on the Military Ball Court and to Senior Parents. Please understand that the more chaperones we allow, the fewer Cadets we can let come...and it's all about the Cadets 😊 Chaperones will be assigned their area to watch upon sign in.

I will call/text everyone that submits a Chaperone form and let you know. Remember, the papers will go out around the second week of March.

For our newer parents, you're probably asking what The Military Ball Court is?

The Cadets vote for one female and one male Cadet from each grade level to be on the Court (similar to Homecoming Court). The Senior Cadets are the Queen and King of the Ball and the other grades are on their court.

The Court is presented at the beginning of the Dance and they will then perform The Waltz (don't worry the practice beforehand😊) to kick off the Ball.

If your Cadet is on the Court and you are not chaperoning, you and your family will be given the choice to come watch the Presentation of the Court and take picturesπŸ˜ƒ and then you would leave after The Waltz is done.

I will make another post when the papers are put out so you can ask your Cadet for themπŸ˜‚ Please remember the Dress Code! And please remember that you can reach out to me with any and all questions you may have!

Thanks so much!
