Over winter break, a handful of Outer Coast students made their way to Viroqua, WI, to represent OC at the 3rd annual Nunnian Summit! There, they met up with representatives from other Nunnian schools including Deep Springs, Thoreau College, the Telluride Association, Lamplight, Tidelines, and the Gull Island Institute. Over 3 days, students and staffulty discussed shared challenges, educational philosophy, potential for collaboration and more. Some of the questions that emerged included:

-What defines a Nunnian school?
-What role should technology play in a Nunnian education?
-How can our communities balance student self-governance with long-term institutional stability?

In addition to all the discussion, the OC delegation also got to celebrate a birthday, went on a hike in sub-freezing temperatures, and met up with some former staffulty and students who were also in attendance. It was a great way to start the semester. Thanks for hosting us, Thoreau!
