This was a very special day on the water 🐟

The ocean was glass calm, and the herring were displaying a feeding behavior known as “Ram feeding.” In large schools, the herring swim on the surface with their mouths open filter feeding zooplankton and copepods. This is more common at night, but given the calm conditions and abundance of food they were out in force.

What followed was non-stop King Salmon, and Coho crashing across the surface in pursuit of these feeding herring.. When it comes to mooching for salmon, this is peaking. The days we dream about. 🪝
