Happy Valentine's Day, friends! The Prairie Mermaid is *back*, but in a different way! There is so much to say, but I will tell it chapter by chapter. Today, on Valentine's Day, I wanted to share a change of heart story. As you know, I owned my humble little boutique for a handful of years selling you fun, unique pieces to get you to be confident in celebrating your own beauty. I still believe in the power of fashion and how it can uplift you, but I am getting out of buying new for myself and focusing on finding pre-loved items to fill my closet and home, During COVID I learend a lot about the harmful impacts new and fast fashion has on our world. My heart no longer longer felt happy buying new when there are ***plenty*** of great items for your home and closet already out there. I want to use my Mermaid accounts to not only share my great finds, but keep me accountable in my pre-loved purchases and basically being a more conscious shopper. I am not a perfect thrifter (is there such a person?!), but I strive to be and I can't wait to continue to learn and I hope you join me! ♥️
***I am wearing a pre-loved Ralph Lauren red turtleneck (I LOVE Ralph Lauren) that I found at Goodwill. My earrings are a gift from my madre, and while you can't see them, I am wearing my favorite medium wash LEVI's I found at Style Encore (a great pre-loved store in Sioux Falls).
