As with every disaster, it is important to remember these things:

For employers:
Your staff and your customers’ safety is the most important. If your staff cannot make it to work, be compassionate. If your emergency support crews cannot make it to you to open your business, be understanding.

For neighbors:
Even if your property is fine, but your neighbor is struggling, do what you can to help.

For communities:
If there is a section of your town that was hit harder than others, give what you can, help where you can, and don’t create unnecessary commotion that will delay relief efforts.

For customers of businesses that are impacted:
Be patient. They are likely dealing with staff shortages (or a usual influx of business caused be closed competition), shipping/receiving issues, and/or property damage themselves. The best thing you can do is continue to frequent them, but do it gracefully. If it takes an extra 10 minutes to get your drive through order out, be thankful, not angry.
