Bat guano accumulates in piles in your attic, on the roof, or on the ground where bats are present or have been roosting over a period of time. Much like mouse droppings, bat guano is black in color and comes in long, thin pellet shapes.

If you were to break apart bat guano, you would see that it has shiny, shimmery specks, which is due to all the insects bats eat. However, the fact that it accumulates in a pile is the easiest way to determine whether it is bat guano.

This attic we inspected today has had bats roosting on the inside and can very easily come in here time and time again if nothing is done to prevent them from coming back.
