This is pretty random timing, but for those of you who have followed our Halloween photo over the years, you may have noticed we didn't do anything last fall. After 11 years doing a magical shoot with all four kids wrapped up in 2023, I did a solo shoot (Tangled) with our youngest in 2024.

Well, we did shoot something in fall of 2025. Truth is, I just could not get the edit to work out and decided to let it go. Sometimes you are just not feeling it, and it felt kind of forced.

This week I decided to pick it up again and gave it another try. So here it is, "Cinderella"! Thanks to our lovely model and to my husband and older daughter for assisting.

This feature is of Anna, who I have photographed from elementary school through her senior year (and even in the three years since with her siblings)! Her mom is a former co-worker who gave me a chance way back when I was starting out, and she has had photos of the kids done every single year from 2011 through 2025. I am very grateful to my long-term clients for trusting me for so many years.

I loved doing Anna's shoot and of course wanted to make the photos spectacular for her. We covered all the looks: water, grassy fields, and flowers; track shots since she's a runner; downtown Sioux Falls for fun photos in interesting spots; and a moody, woodsy setting at the end - just in time to beat the sunset.

This feature goes back to 2014, and that one time (with the help of my husband) I built a prop swing for our then-backyard!

I posted photos of my daughter on the swing (not these) which led to being contacted by friends from the past about this shoot with Elsie - who was actually in a legit circus performing arts school in the Twin Cities. My dream come true to do such a magical shoot like this with a real aerial artist!
