Hoping everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s Day. While love ❤️ fills the air, so does radon 💨… cue Debbie Downer sound effect 😂. Unfortunately, South Dakota has some of the highest levels in the country.

❄️ Do you have frost or condensation 💧 forming on your windows? You’re not alone! Here’s a couple pictures of windows in my own home…Due to this cold snap, it’s normal to see some frost or moisture clinging to the interior surface of your windows. As the temperature outside drops, so does the surface temperature of your windows. And just like a cold drink in the summer, moisture will cling to the glass and condense or even freeze 🍺. A few things are at play here. If your humidity levels are too high, you will see an increase in condensation at the windows. In addition, if your windows are inefficient, the surface temp will be lower and condensation is more likely. Prolonged moisture at the windows can lead to permanent damage to the surrounding trim and drywall. Remember to open your blinds to allow warm air to circulate near your windows and reduce condensation. If you are running a humidifier, I’ve included a handy chart to help you reduce the likelihood of condensation. Stay warm!

If you have leaves in your yard, you will likely find them in the gutters of your home. Clogged gutters and downspouts are one of the leading causes of water damage in homes. Clogged gutters in the winter can increase the likelihood of ice dams and subsequent water pe*******on into the attic space. Stay safe if you plan on cleaning them yourselves!
