On this Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the six million Jewish lives lost in the Holocaust and the millions of others who perished at the hands of the N**i regime. We also honor the struggle of the survivors – those who lived through the darkest of days in modern Jewish history and overcame the seemingly unimaginable. Survivors like Sophie and Abraham Hamburger, who both survived concentration camps in Poland and Germany and went on to build rich and loving lives in Los Angeles.
Sophie and Abraham’s grandson, Jeff Schlesinger, shared this moving photo with Mount Sinai to honor his grandparents’ legacy. Pictured here is Sophie holding her great granddaughter Abigail in her arms. Abigail is named in loving memory of her great grandfather Abraham. From generation to generation, we will remember.
Now, Sophie rests at Mount Sinai beside her husband Abraham. May Sophie and Abraham’s memory – and the memory of all victims of the Holocaust – be a blessing. Together, we say Never Again.
