In Baltimore, extreme heat is not distributed equally. Neighborhoods with fewer trees, more pavement, and decades of disinvestment can feel dangerously hotter, while many of the families living there are already struggling with rising energy bills.
Utility rate hikes make it even harder for people to safely cool their homes during the hottest months of the year. Read more about Baltimore’s urban heat islands and why affordable energy must be part of the fight for climate and environmental justice: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/44fcc0dbe861400da872f3db1a4f9b0f

Baltimore County is entering a new chapter. After years of limited progressive representation, voters have the opportunity to send leaders to the County Council who are deeply rooted in their communities and committed to delivering results for working families. This election also puts Baltimore County on track to make history by electing one of its first Black women to the County Council - a milestone that reflects the need for more diverse leadership in our communities. PMD congratulates our endorsed candidates on advancing from the primary and applauds their commitment to listening first, leading with integrity, and fighting for neighborhoods where every family can thrive. Together, they represent a stronger, more inclusive vision for Baltimore County and the work still ahead.
