Socks. Vaseline. Instant coffee. Protein-rich, non-perishable food.
These are just a few of the items most needed by people experiencing homelessness.

Food insecurity continues to rise in Montgomery County, and as Mosaic returns to downtown Silver Spring, we have new opportunities to engage with our neighbors facing these challenges. During last Sunday’s Deep Dive, Jen shared valuable best practices from her professional experience, reminding us that small gestures can make a big difference.

A simple “hello,” a short conversation, and a moment of connection can help rebuild an inclusive community. And we can go further by preparing care packages and staying aware of local resources.

If you missed the session, you’ll find a list of suggested items and local support organizations: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1oZmzR-r3guvIucpCRkys04t1hKfPw7jC/edit
Stay tuned with the Mercy Ministry Team for our upcoming events:
🧯 Extra training session with Jen in November
🎒 Care package workshop on December 8

Let’s strive to serve our community with compassion and consistency!

How many potatoes can you pack in one afternoon? 🥔✨

Two weekends ago, 30 Mosaic volunteers carpooled out to First Fruits Farm, Inc. to take part in the harvest. First Fruits is a Christian ministry farm that plants and harvests its fields with the help of volunteers, then donates all fresh produce to organizations serving local families in need.

Beyond the fields, the day was also about fellowship: our team worked side by side with volunteers from diverse organizations and backgrounds, sharing time, energy, and purpose in service of others.

We’re grateful for the chance to serve—and for the reminder that simple acts, done together, can be a blessing to many. You can act too! Learn more about First Fruits Farm 👉https://www.firstfruitsfarm.org

As for the numbers: more than 8,000 lbs of potatoes, in 400 boxes! We too were surprised 😎
