It only takes a few inches of fast-moving water to sweep a vehicle away. Roads that look passable can be deceiving, especially during heavy rain and flooding events.

Never drive through flooded roadways, no matter how shallow it looks. If you encounter water covering the road, turn around and find an alternate route.

Your safest choice is always the one that keeps you out of floodwaters!

The PMDP crew has been out on a 16-day cleanup mission at Kuaihelani (Midway Atoll), focusing on removing entanglement hazards and large marine debris from the shoreline. These efforts are critical in helping to restore habitats and reduce threats to wildlife across this remote ecosystem.

While we’re not sharing total removal numbers just yet, here’s a look at what the team has been working through on the ground.
