Not much happening this morning. I had the whole place to myself.

Finally had some good luck with a heron shot. I was looking for this guy in the water, but he/she was actually perched right over my head. These birds are cool.

I've been to Assateague Island several times, but this was the first time I got to see some wild horses that live there.

Cloudy today, so I decided to practice using a ring flash. Many of the azaleas were at peak, and the breeze was almost zero back in the wooded areas of the park. The azalea color variety here was better than any of the other venues I have recently visited. Go check them out before the insects arrive.

All shots are Canon R5, RF100mm f2.8 macro, iso 1250, 1/200 sec, f11, Godox ML-150 II manual ring flash

I went on a photo + video road trip to capture images of waterfalls in western PA. It was just two days of driving and shooting with my favorite assistant, Helen. We saw some beautiful natural falls, and the weather was beyond perfect. Being able to get to these special places early in the morning on a weekday gives them a special feel because there is often nobody else there. This is a slow motion of Buttermilk Falls, near New Florence, PA. You can walk behind the falls. The waterfall sounds, at least at this spot, bring peaceful isolation. I could listen and watch all day, but there are other falls awaiting.
