Yellow Pig Day began in the 1960s when mathematicians Michael Spivak and David C. Kelly became fascinated with the unique mathematical properties of the number 17. Their fascination eventually inspired the creation of a mythical yellow pig with 17 eyelashes, and July 17 became a quirky celebration of mathematics, curiosity, and imagination!
