Hope you all had a wonderful time celebrating our nation's 250th 4th of July! At Aurora, we marked the weekend with our own festivities as we continued our Summer in the Psalms series, focusing on Psalm 33: "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord."

We dug into the Hebrew word ‘hesed’, God's steadfast covenant love, and saw how His eye watches over all the earth, yet He draws near in a special way to those who fear Him and hope in His unfailing love.

We celebrated communion together as a church family - kids included. Then our lobby turned into a full red, white, and blue party: patriotic hats and stars-and-stripes outfits, co****le for the kids, red, white, and blue popsicles and birthday cake, drinks, and family games all around.

Another joy-filled Summer Sunday in the Psalms at Aurora. Grateful for this church family and for the God who sees us and loves us with an everlasting ‘hesed’-love.

Thank you to everyone who has signed up to serve at our Under the Sea VBS! To help all of our volunteers feel prepared and confident, we'll be holding a volunteer training immediately following the worship service in Room 200 - THIS SUNDAY. Lunch will be provided, and we'll cover everything you need to know before VBS begins.

We will also be taking time during the worship service this Sunday to pray over our VBS, the children who will attend, and our amazing volunteers. If possible, please plan to attend this special service!

It was a busy weekend at Aurora! Between finishing up the parking lot, Men’s Breakfast, a Memorial Service, VBS prep and putting up the temporary fence for Camp Aurora, a group of volunteers also moved furniture from North Seattle to Aurora!

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others” (1 Peter 4:10).

Science backs the Bible here: volunteering reduces stress, combats depression, and creates deep purpose. Weekly church volunteering has now surpassed pre-COVID levels, with Gen Z and Millennials leading the charge. The generation everyone wrote off? Showing up. Sleeves rolled up 💪🏻

At Aurora, we call our volunteers the A-Team — and they are the heartbeat of everything we do.
