🌲🔥 National Wildland Firefighter Day 🔥🌲

Today, we recognize and thank the dedicated wildland firefighters who work tirelessly to protect lives, homes, natural resources, and communities across our state and nation.

Wildland firefighting is physically demanding, unpredictable, and often dangerous. These men and women face long deployments, steep terrain, extreme heat, smoke, and rapidly changing fire conditions—all while working to keep others safe.

Here at Shoreline Fire Department, we're proud that our firefighters answer the call when mutual aid is needed. Throughout the fire season, our crews deploy across Washington to assist our state and local partners battling wildfires, bringing their training, experience, and commitment to communities in need.

As we honor all wildland firefighters today, we also encourage everyone to do their part in preventing human-caused wildfires:

🔥 Never discard ci******es on the ground.
🔥 Keep vehicles off dry grass.
🔥 Properly extinguish campfires.
🔥 Follow local burn restrictions.
🔥 Report signs of wildfire immediately.
