Foothill Dog Rescue

The pups have called……. they’d like to file a formal complaint about the weather and its impact on their zoomies!
As temperatures rise, it’s important to remember that dogs, and animals in general, rely on us as humans, to advocate for their health and safety. Consider utilizing indoor enrichment activities and taking advantage of cooler pockets of the day, like early mornings and evenings, for walks and outdoor adventures.
Be especially mindful of puppies, senior dogs, double-coated breeds, brachycephalic (smushy-faced) breeds, and dogs with underlying medical conditions, as they can be more susceptible to heat-related illness.
The information shared in this post is intended for educational purposes only and should not replace advice from your veterinarian. Foothill Dog Rescue is NOT a licensed veterinary provider. If you have concerns about your dog’s health, please consult your veterinarian.

We hope you and your pups have a safe, happy, and fun-filled summer ahead!

As many of you know, Foothill Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) organization that is entirely foster and volunteer based. We often say “it takes a village,” and it truly does. Behind every adoption, fundraiser, and success story there is a team of incredible humans wearing many different hats.
Today, we wanted to give you a little behind the scenes look at one of those humans: Danielle!
Danielle has been part of the Foothill family since 2016 and has worn many hats over the years. She volunteers, fosters, and serves as one of the coordinators for our Paws on the Block program. Alongside her husband, dogs Artoo and Hank (a Foothill alum!), and a flock of chickens, she has dedicated countless hours to helping dogs and the community. Over the years, she has fostered more than 50 puppies and quite a few mama dogs too. If you swipe to the second photo, you’ll see Wellesley and her litter, Danielle’s most recent mama and puppies crew! 🐶
When asked what she finds most rewarding about rescue, Danielle shared:
“Rescuing dogs from shelter life and seeing them completely relax and come out of their shell in a safe environment.”
One of her favorite rescue experiences?
“Being present to help a mama dog deliver her puppies is a pretty unique experience.”
Behind the scenes, Danielle is a powerhouse, keeping things organized, grounded, and always thinking of ways to help things grow and evolve, especially Paws on the Block!
One of our favorite Danielle quotes is, “I’m crying on the inside like a winner.” But if we’re being honest, the dogs always seem to get her crying on the outside, no matter how big her sunglasses are, we can still tell.
Thank you, Danielle, for everything you do for Foothill, the dogs, and our community. ❤️🐾
