In May your Volunteers ran a few less calls than April. Keep in mind we are coming into the summer months, and everyone is busier. That includes our Volunteers who are just as busy as everyone else in the community. Our resources will be spread thin. Ask yourself this question, what if all of the volunteers were on vacation too?

This evening your volunteers answered an unusual type of call. People often ask why we respond to calls like this sometimes. The simple answer, it is better for trained personnel to enter unusual circumstances/spaces rather than potentially having to rescue a person trying to do a good deed.
This is what occurred: We received a public call via Sherman PD for ducklings that had fallen into the storm sewer. We responded with E1 and made entry to the storm sewer in multiple locations. Two ducklings were retrieved from the storm sewer and reunited with a very hysterical mama duck. Once the reunion occurred, the duck family waddled off into the sunset and we cleared the scene.
