It was brought to my attention that Steve Austin has a “Broken Skull Ranch”. When I looked at trademark registry, it appeared as if I could continue to use this name as long as I never printed it on “apparel”.
Just to make sure, I reached out to the attorney listed as the registered correspondence.
The response was essentially, they don’t want anyone using the name for anything commerce…. Such as putting labels on my tallow balm, and after reviewing this fb page… one person… ONE… had made a comment suggesting that they had found “Steve Austin’s” Broken Skull Ranch page.
ironically, that comment was also posted under our page description in which we state EXACTLY who we are, where we are located, and what we do…. None of which made a single reference to S.A. 🙄
For that reason, they found that folks could be confused as to “who” they might be following…. Although, from what I have looked at, I can’t see where S.A. has a ranch page, so I don’t think there could be any confusion, unless you can’t… or just refuse, to read.
Regardless, they were of good enough character to allow me to reassign a new brand/ranch name that is not that of which is trademarked.
I’ve submitted an email with the new name and hopeful that it meets the compliance of trademark infringement rules.
I guess we shall see.
I’m pretty disheartened at the decision considering that the name directly applied to my actual skull working hobby…. BUT, just like everyone else, I too must adhere to the rules.
With that all being said, if you see some changes coming about, don’t be alarmed… I’m simply learning the ropes and adjusting fire accordingly.
As with all things…. Do what’s right even when it’s hard!

We shut down the farm after butchering this fall…. Unlike years prior, we will keep it quiet for the remainder of 2025 as we indulge in our child in her last year before she begins kindergarten.
No pigs, no beef cows, no turkeys, probably not even a meat bird.
BUT… we are going to do our part to help the poultry shortage, the backyard chicken owners, and those wanting to invest in self reliant food sources.
40 hopefully hatchers went into the incubator this morning.
Hopefully we have 40 new arrivals just in time for April Fools!

Edit- ignore all the spam bots that are telling you are a winner… final weights won’t be in until late Tuesday.
It’s here!! The Annual Turkey Harvest and The Holiday Visa Giveaway!!!
If this is your first year here, the rules are easy-
1. Guess the weight of our heaviest turkey…
2. Only ONE entry per person
3. Guess must be made under this post on the Broken Skull Ranch page… any entries made on the Daisy Delaney page (or any other shared page) won’t be counted!
Closest guess, WITHOUT GOING OVER, will win a $100 visa gift card mailed directly to you to spend how you wish this holiday season!!
Weights of turkeys will be determined after feathers are pulled and evisceration is done (the guts removed).
Let the guesses begin!!

It’s pumpkin baking day… gotta get ready for Thanksgiving!!
These short ‘saucer’ type pumkins are my favorite for making pumpkin pies with… the flesh is usually a more rich orange, and the flavor is a more bold pumpkin.
Pie pumpkins tend to be already sweet and that’s fine, but I can always adjust sugar… I can’t always adjust pumpkin!
