For some children, fireworks are exciting. For others, the loud sounds, bright flashes, crowds, and unexpected booms can be overwhelming. A little planning can help everyone enjoy the holiday!

🎆 Prepare ahead of time: Talk about what they'll see and hear so there are fewer surprises.
🎧 Pack hearing protection: Noise-canceling headphones or earmuffs can make a big difference.
🧸 Bring a comfort item: A favorite stuffed animal, blanket, or cozy sweatshirt can help your child feel safe and regulated.
🍿 Pack favorite snacks and fidgets: Keeping little hands and mouths busy can provide calming sensory input.
📍 Choose your spot wisely: Sitting farther away from the fireworks can reduce both the volume and intensity.
🚗 Have a backup plan: It's okay to leave early if your child becomes overwhelmed. The goal isn't making it to the finale, it's creating a positive experience.
