In honor of the brave men and women of Sheboygan County who served the United States in both peace and wartime, Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home established a memorial garden and flagpole at the corner of South Twelfth Street and Spruce Court. This tribute was officially dedicated on Memorial Day, Friday, May 30, 2003.

The ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries including State Senator Joe Leibham, The Honorable James Schramm (Mayor of Sheboygan), Alderman Daniel Berg, and the City of Sheboygan Police Honor Guard. Over 50 veteran honorees from local Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts were also present.

The Invocation was delivered by Deacon Michael Burch, the then serving Parish Director of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. Military Honors were conducted by representatives of the United States Army and Navy, provided through the Military Honors Program of the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs.

This space stands as a lasting tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and service of our local heroes.

The VA defines a Veteran as "a person who served in the active military, naval, or air service and who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable." However, Veteran can mean many things to different people. How do you define a veteran?
