Garden Genii
Does anyone else remember that old saying-- "March comes in like a lion, goes out like a lamb"? Well I think March got it backwards this year. Such wind the last 2 days! hahaha!
Well-- it's really too bad that grass roots aren't edible. I'm digging them out of a clients garden and the huge pile of them look like spaghetti...
-- so I picture this: "The Grassroot Spaghetti tonight then, Madame? Excellent choice. Would that be the Crabgrass Root or the Canarygrass Root?
"Oh, I think the Canarygrass root-- its so much more plentiful, don't you think?"
"Oh, quite, Madame, yes, you are so right. and for the sauce, then, we have a lovely sauce de mole, or would you prefer the specialty- a tantalizing escargot saute' made with fresh escargot, harvested by hand by our chef himself, hand-picked for only the tenderest of snails, who have all been fed only on the finest of roses, ensuring their delicate flavor and aroma- topped with a light scattering of chickweed greens and bittercress for a delightfully piquant touch of flavor..."
...hahaahha obviously my mind runs away with me while I am weeding. But oh, we could feed the world on grass roots... ;-)

When you have mud on your knees, and black dirt under your nails; when you have dead leaves in your bra, and rocks in your shoes; when you have sweat making clean tracks in the dust on your face, and the pile of weeds is bigger than you-- you know you had a good day in the garden. :-)
