The Farm Sequim

Did you hear the news?! Our new flock of hens has started laying their first pullet eggs & they are glorious! We’ve raised this flock since they were day old chicks & have waited nearly 20 weeks for this moment. These new ladies have also gotten a serious upgrade to their supplemental feed. In addition to fresh grass & all the bugs they could possibly want-they’re getting a thoughtfully blended, fresh-milled, organic feed, that is free of corn, soy, & vegetable oils from a Washington based company ! This change comes with a substantial increase in our costs, but we are passionate about feeding our community the same nutrient-dense foods that we feed our family. 🙏🏻❤️
Come grab a dozen from The Farm Stand & experience the flavor explosion for yourself-we’re so excited to hear what you think!

Have you heard the news??!! It’s the tail-end of Winter & we’ve added so many delicious product offerings to The Farm Stand while we wait for the bountiful seasons to come. Justin & I spent the three years prior to buying The Farm creating a business around nutrient dense food products & it brings us so much joy to be able to share them with this local community!
•
Our newest offerings include sourdough two-cheese focaccia, sourdough chocolate chip cookies made with the rich orange yolks from our pasture-raised eggs, & candied nuts made with organic almonds & pecans & the whites from those same nutrient-dense eggs.
•
All of our sourdough products are fermented a minimum of 18 hours & more typically upwards of 24 hours. We've found that this aides tremendously in the digestibility of the wheat & creates a really delicious product. If the word sourdough intimidates you when it comes to a sweet treat, not to worry! Our cookies do not taste sour, they simply have the added benefit of being fermented.

We are overwhelmed with excitement for all that’s to come & look forward to hearing how you like all of these new products. If you’ve already stopped by & grabbed some goodies, will you please comment below & share? We appreciate your support!

Tomorrow (Tues. 12/21) is our last morning at The Farm. It will be 8 years, 2 months to the day that we took over a very dilapidated property & poured our heart & soul into repairs, remodels, & creating The Farm as we know it today. We could not have built this successful business without all the amazing support we’ve received from our community.
We lived our dreams & now pass The Farm to the Byrne Family for them to make their dreams a reality.
Thank you all for your encouragement & support. - Jennifer & Nick

Our future??? Taking our first vacation together since buying The Farm to decompress and figure out ‘what next’ (at a family cabin off Vancouver Island). We’ve put our international travel plans on hold due to Covid (other than the trip to Canada). Some possibilities - Nick’s applied for a 15 month immersion program at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, UT working with dogs. This is the place where our disabled chicken (Polly Pocket) now lives the life of luxury. Jennifer may do a seasonal job in Greenland (to counter our past jobs in Antarctica) or a long distance bike / backpacking trip. . . time will tell. Life is full possibilities and adventures yet to be had!

We are happy to introduce the upcoming new owners of The Farm - the Byrne Family. Please join us in welcoming Justin, Jenna, Nora, & Teagan (& Coba - dog not pictured) who arrived today after a month long trip across country. We're still awaiting final signing and closing, but they are here and will be taking over soon!
A brief introduction as we'll leave their story for them to tell later (they will take over The Farm's social media sites upon ownership). Jenna & Justin are familiar with the NW, having worked 10 years for Boeing. They’ve spent the last 5 years traveling, gaining experience & knowledge on other farms, & starting their own business. They were last living at a farm in TN. They are keeping the chickens and have great plans to expand operations.
We'll have one more post before we leave, in the meantime, please WELCOME the Byrne Family to Sequim & The Farm!!!!
