Gil Pereira brought his MK4 GTI 20th Anniversary back to the shop for a few upgrades and maintenance items.

We installed a set of smoked fender turn signal lights and smoked taillights to give the car a cleaner, updated look. We also upgraded the charging system with a Clusters By Litke 2-gauge alternator wiring harness and replaced the notorious fuse panel above the battery to improve reliability.

While it was here, we unclogged and cleaned the sunroof drains to help prevent water intrusion issues and serviced the A/C system to keep it blowing cold for the Florida summer.

Little details and preventative maintenance go a long way in keeping these MK4s on the road and looking their best.

Finished up Frank’s clean MK4 Jetta GLI with a fresh round of maintenance and upgrades to keep it driving its best.

We started with a oil service, replaced the right front ABS wheel speed sensor harness, installed new strut mount bushings, and fitted a new projector headlight with fresh HID bulbs to improve nighttime visibility.

Frank also wanted a custom lighting setup, so we rewired the city lights to operate from the fog light position on the factory headlight switch. This allows him to cruise with just the parking lights when desired while still being able to shut them off when running the low beams.

To wrap things up, we adjusted the suspension dampening for a more comfortable daily-driver setup. After the final test drive, it’s safe to say this may be one of the smoothest-riding MK4s we’ve driven in a long time. It honestly doesn’t drive like a 22-year-old car.
