*OPPOSITION CHIEF WHIP EXPRESSES OPTIMISM THAT PRESIDENT BIO WILL NOT SIGN THE CRIMINAL PROCEDURE ACT, 2024* !

As the Criminal Procedure Act continues to garner more public attention due to some of its clauses, especially in the area of abolition of jury system. This part of the laws has ignited the embers to the extent many are with the notion that if the President appends his signature it will serves as a threshold to eliminate democratic principles.

As it is stand, opposition Chief Whip, Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara continues to appeal to the President for him not to sign the Act as he described it to be one of the laws that posseses the proclivity to trash fair trials.

He reiterated that President Bio would not sign the document considering public outcry as similar bill: " *Abortion* *Bill* " was enacted but due to the public feedback about the Act, the then President did not appended his signature. In that regard, he is very hopeful that President Bio will follow suit to save the image of the nation.

He further to clarify that there are countries; Gambia, South Africa, Nigeria that had expunged jury system in their law books but that occured during the era when those nations were not democratic. He maintained that for Sierra Leone, jury system has been part of the judicial procedures and it is working effectively to ensure fair trials as well as to maintain democracy.

In conclusion, Opposition Chief Whip yet calling on the President to serve as a gatekeeper because as it's now he is the only gentleman that has the power to save the image of Parliament and to protect democracy.

It is well established that since SLPP took up governance the peace of this nation is at stake as many of their loyalists are on the verge to thwart the peace and tranquility the citizens are enjoying base on their ill- actions to impose war if their welfare are not met.

Recently, the citizens saw a video on social media wherein one of the supporters of the administration, Mr. Kadiru Kaikai threatening to wage war if the pending elections are unfavorable for him. He went on to state that he would start the war in the northern region which as well indicated regionalism as well as tribalism.

However, Opposition Chief Whip, Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara unavoidably refuted the indecent statements made by Mr. Kadiru KaiKai as one of the foes of the state and which as a party they are ever ready to resist any attempt from the administration to ignite instability in the country.

Also, Opposition Chief Whip went on to note that what Mr. Kadiru Kaikai was to create insecurity and as Opposition Party they are anticipating to see the law take its course.

In addition, he maintained that if it could have been in a country where there is even justice for the citizens by now Mr. Kadiru Kaikai should have charged to court not the statement from his political party as they have suspended his membership as that has nothing to ensure justice.

*" As it's now, nobody has informed us whereabout of Mr. Kadiru Kaikai* ", he made this statement as since the police notified the public that they have apprehended Mr. Kaikai they are yet to receive any other information related to the investigation and the citizens are curious to be updated about the issue for transparency and accountability.

Additionally, Opposition Chief Whip mentioned that what Kadiru Kaikai did is almost the same what Augustine Johnny had done years back as he rightly unleashed threatening remarks against Opposition members.

Furthermore, according to Opposition Chief Whip the current administration has appeared that the only way some of their supporters to be recognized is to cause mayhem against the Opposition Members in which at the end they are cordially rewarded.

Moreover, he reiterated that the post war traumas are yet afresh in the minds of the people as many lost their properties and love ones. And as a result, for the citizens to start seeing such moves from the administration it is not an issue to be toyed with but rather to raise the tide to ensure those who are fueling another war should face the full penality of the law.

Again, he emphasized that President Bio's statements against Mr. Kadiru Kaikai has nothing to ensure that there would be justice as many of his supporters have been made such utterances without being punished for their irresponsible actions yet, to be elevated to the latter.

In conclusion, he therefore continues to calling on all citizens to be law abiding as Opposition Members they are always on their toes to ensure everlasting peace in the country.
