West Sebring Volunteer Fire Department Announces the Loss of Lt. William (Bill) “Donk” Miller…

Chief Romanik is saddened to announce, “Last night Bill lost his battle with cancer, a battle that some would call prolific”.

Bill returned to our department last year after his medical retirement from Ft. Myers FD. While Bill could no longer be an interior firefighter he did not allow this or his cancer diagnosis to stop him from working with each new firefighter that came to our department. Bill literally hit the ground running becoming involved in every area of our department. Bill’s loss will unquestionably be felt by many.

As news spread today, his LODD mark with his City of Ft. Myers Fire Department badge number quickly spread across Facebook showing the impact Bill had far and wide. It was evident Bill had done so much for so many. “The mark of a man is what he does when he’s here, the legacy is what he leaves when he can no longer do”. Bill’s legacy will be deep on West Sebring VFD, City of Ft. Myers FD, and The Fire Service far and wide.
