A new chapter in Sonoma County poetry begins ✨

The Sonoma County Poet Laureate Committee is pleased to announce that Claire Drucker has been selected as Sonoma County’s Poet Laureate for the 2026–2028 term.

Chosen from a field of talented and accomplished finalists, Claire joins a distinguished tradition of poets whose work demonstrates artistic excellence, a critically acclaimed body of work, and a deep commitment to the literary arts in Sonoma County.

Soon-to-be Poet Laureate Claire Drucker was an English professor at Santa Rosa Junior College for 27 years, where she taught creative writing, composition, and critical thinking.

She received her B.A. in English Literature from the University of Virginia and her M.F.A. in Creative Writing and Poetics from Naropa University. She is currently the poetry curator for The Sitting Room, a community library dedicated to women’s literature with over 7,000 titles, and she currently lives in Sebastopol.

As we celebrate this exciting new appointment, we will also honor outgoing Poet Laureate Dave Seter and thank him for his years of service and contributions to our creative community.

Join us on Sunday, July 12 at 2 PM at Sebastopol Center for the Arts for a special reception welcoming Claire and celebrating Dave’s tenure.
