Seems like yesterday we took over this project from another builder. When we got there, the historic timber frame had already been reconstructed, so we missed out on that fun. But that’s when our work began. Lots of fussing with these old timbers, but it came out nice don’t you think?

Pivot door: We didn’t build this one in house, but I’ve built quite a few over the years. When they are unconventional like this one, a lot of care has to go into the structural part of the door.

For instance, having a flat and solid interior core is critical, but also making sure that whatever facing goes on one side is the same on the other in terms of thickness, dryness and grain. Problems start to arise with flat grain one side and vertical on the other. Additionally, make sure the door is sealed on all six sides before exposing to the elements.
