Discover Lantern House, Syndicate Smith’s island retreat, featured in today's The Wall Street Journal.
"'The goal was to make the new house modern, airy and light—the opposite of the small dark cabin across the street,' said Todd Smith, founding partner of Syndicate Smith. The highlight is the entry, which is vast and high, filled with modern handblown glass pendants with LED filaments."
Thanks, Nancy Keates, for the lovely feature! Keep reading: https://bit.ly/4x1CeaF.

Despite the best efforts of the current administration and its attempts to roll back environmental regulations, reverse policies, and police climate-focused rhetoric over the past year, the important work of sustainable building hasn’t slowed down.
The 2026 Metropolis Magazine U.S. Sustainable Design Report puts numbers to what we’re seeing. Carbon accounting is on the rise. Nearly half of firm billings are tied to renovations, retrofits, and historic preservation.
That momentum has shown up in our clients’ work. From Passive House designs in the Rocky Mountain West to adaptive reuse efforts in Seattle’s Pioneer Square, our clients continue to champion sustainable design in their projects.
