Today, the world celebrates Sir David Attenborough's 100th birthday, a century of life that has inspired generations to care about the natural world.
Executive Director Dr. Charu Mishra is one of the many people across the planet who have been inspired by Sir David's extraordinary life.
"Most people grew up watching Sir David Attenborough. I didn’t... Growing up in India, televisions were scarce and wildlife documentaries even scarcer. My introduction to Sir David came through one of his books, The Living Planet, which I read and reread as a child. It opened up a world I had never imagined.
But the result was the same: a lasting curiosity about the natural world. Long before conservation became a widely discussed subject, Sir David was helping people care about nature, not by lecturing them, but by introducing them to its wonders, with joy and respect."

Happy World Wildlife Day!
Balancing human needs and wildlife protection has always been at the heart of our conservation work. Now, as species face extinction and habitat loss threatens community livelihoods, this balance is more important than ever.
We partner with Indigenous and local communities across snow leopard habitats to develop climate adaptation solutions that strengthen livelihoods while promoting peaceful coexistence with snow leopards and all wildlife.
