We've been dormant for a while, but the hate campaigns from Safe Seattle, SoS, and now from KOMO 4 News with programs like "Seattle is Dying," certainly haven't stopped. If anything, they've only gotten worse. Case in point: candidates like Ari Hoffman spreading actual hoaxes meant to demonize, fear monger, and spread hate in our city. It has to stop.

No, Safe Seattle - this isn't "gaslighting." Fighting back against hysteria when: crime in the city is low and it is wrong to single out the crimes of one group of people only to use it to over generalize and stoke fear against said group of people is not gaslighting. Gaslighting is a serious form of abuse that happens all across the world everyday - asking that we drop the histrionics and treat these situations fairly...is not that. Crime happens and is committed by all sorts of people everyday. But the fact is that crime is statistically likely to go DOWN in neighborhoods with encampments for the houseless. Inviting these individuals to be our neighbors is what makes all of us safer, not ostracizing them.
