On this day in 2014, Seattle became the first major city to adopt a $15/hr minimum wage. This victory kicked off a series of similar victories across the country. A key role in this fight was played by Socialist Alternative and our City Councilmenber Kshama Sawant, who initiated the 15 Now campaign and fought back against the counter efforts of big businesses, the labor bureaucracy and the Democratic Party mayor and city council majority.
