I’m ready to travel again, lol. If you didn’t get a chance to experience Egypt, I genuinely recommend it. It’s unfortunate that so much history was damaged—like the defacing of statues and attempts to whitewash Egypt’s legacy—but the depth, power, and spirituality of these ancient centers is still undeniable.
What surprised me most is that places with such regal history aren’t always fully appreciated by those living on the land today. Some cities struggle with infrastructure—trash, recycling, visible poverty—so abundance isn’t always embodied in daily life. And yet, the love and genuineness of the Egyptian people is very real. You just have to understand the culture to see it.
Commerce there is a game. As you walk through street markets, people will constantly try to sell you something. If you don’t realize it’s playful negotiation, you might feel overwhelmed—or taken. But it’s really about perceived value. For context, about $1 USD equals roughly 47 Egyptian pounds. So when someone asks for 500 pounds, they’re really asking for about $10.
Then the dance begins.
“I have 300.”
“Okay, 400.”
“350—final.”
They say 375. You walk away at 350.
Chances are, they’ll take it.
At first, I hated haggling—like please, one more person asking me to buy something or negotiate with a boat driver and I’m done 😅. But once I understood the rhythm, it all made sense.
This trip reminded me how excited I am to see more of the world.
So… who’s down for an adventure? 🌍✨
