There were several drive-in theaters with the name Thunderbird back in the fifties and sixties. This one was located North of Seattle in Marysville, WA. It opened in 1959 with the films My Man Godfrey starring David Niven and June Allison, and Man of the West starring Gary Cooper and Julie London. It had a capacity of 500 vehicles and featured a children’s playground located under the large panoramic screen. As a child, one couldn’t help but race down to the playground before the movie only to have the movie start moments later on the screen above, just when maximum height was reached on the swing.

Our design was recreated from a newspaper advertisement printed in the Marysville Globe in 1959. Get this unique vintage design now at our Etsy shop: magicboltdesign.etsy.com
