In our recent Capitol Hill project we completed a full ISF calibration of the installed ultra short throw projector.
We are often asked, “Why calibrate? Isn’t my projector (or TV) already good to go out of the box?”
Unfortunately, no. Manufacturers have displays calibrated to outshine their competition, which does not lead to the best viewing experience for a home environment. Additionally, every home has different lighting levels and wall/decor colors which will ultimately effect the end result.
Manufacturers ship TVs/ projectors in settings that look amazing to potential buyers (think of TVs at big box retailers) but those settings are usually turned up high on showroom floors, skewing the image quality and over driving your displays processor. Which leads to a quicker burn out.
With ISF calibration a specialized camera is used to take snapshots of each individual color that your display produces and recalibrate to the ideal colors for your particular viewing environment.
For high end displays we often suggest calibration services to ensure the best possible picture quality while extending the life of your display.
Last week we installed these battery powered shades by PowerShades and they came out awesome.
Battery powered shades are perfect for retrofits as they require no hardwiring to install, no holes to cut which make them budget friendly. The batteries are lithium ion and last about a year before needing to be recharged. Yep, no individual batteries necessary for these shades! How cool is that?
Available in a wide variety of fabrics and opaquness levels so there is a style for everyone and every interior.
These shades open/close effortlessly with a simple push of a button and can even be integrated with Control4 for a seamless experience of tying together shading, lighting, music, security and more.

It’s day two of our PowerShades install at our new build project and our installers Scott and Taylor are hard at work!
It is amazing to see how far it has come over the past year and what an amazing house this is turning out to be. This house has views with a capital “V”. The architect designed this home on a very steep incline and it has five floors in total... most with views like these. Absolutely incredible.
We are wiring up the media room rack today as well. Will continue to share updates as we wrap this project up, it has been a fun one!
